our strategy
MITIE has a simple strategy to ensure success: increase market share in our chosen markets while maintaining margins. The two main ways that we achieve that strategy are through organic growth and acquisitions:
Organic growth
MITIE has a track record of organic growth - we've had double digit growth since we started, 20 odd years ago. Our strategy covers four key areas that explain our ability to achieve high organic growth rates:
- Market share - MITIE operates in fragmented markets and has a low market share. We're well placed to take advantage of the trends towards multi-service and larger scale national contracts that can only be delivered by a handful of providers too.
- People - Making sure that the teams at MITIE want to do their jobs to the very best of their ability, means that motivating and rewarding our people is absolutely key to the success of our strategy. It's the strength of our management, quality of our people and their energy and commitment that enable us to grow faster than the market.
- Quality service - MITIE is all about having the right people for the job and the right attitude to getting it done. We know it's not rocket science, but it's what makes us different. This uncompromising commitment to provide our customers with quality services that has helped us establish a great reputation, an even better financial success story, and a secure future.
- Corporate responsibility - Being green is important and we're proud to protect the environment in which we work. That means using our specialist skills to make a positive difference. Part of that is so our stakeholders know that we manage our business responsibly. Part is enabling our clients to be more sustainable - helping them to be greener and cleaner and us to sustain our growth in the future.
2. Acquisitions
Part of MITIE’s strategy is to supplement our organic growth through the acquisition of companies that can enhance our service offering. We look for companies that have a very similar people culture, as well as an able and motivated management team. After all, we are all about our people.
